You may know that I have recently taken the plunge, quit my job and moved to Somerset in search of something new. In March I will be joining a team of people working to build a Community Bike Workshop in my new home, Frome! I have always loved cycling (though I am more of a tortoise than a hare), so I'm really excited to be a part of this project to help make cycling more accessible to everyone.

I will be joining Edventure (www.edventurefrome.org) as a student where I hope to learn lots of new skills through spending 10 weeks setting up this community enterprise. I am aiming to raise at least £200 to support the project - please help by donating whatever you can, no donation is too small!

The aim of the bicycle workshop is for people to learn/ share skills, to repair, maintain and refurbish bikes - and maybe even make products or art from old bike parts. The project is a partnership between Edventure, Critchill School and their Bike Shed, Frome Town Council and other groups. We want to get more people in Frome on two wheels more often, to bring people together, to upskill people, cut carbon emissions, save land-fill waste and create meaningful employment opportunities.

Edventure are also hosting a free community event to mark the beginning of the project at The Welsh Mill Hub on Wednesday 11th March (6-8pm) Anyone is welcome to come along and share their ideas, input and support to make this project come to life - please do come if you'd like to see a Community Bike Workshop in Frome - details are at edventurefrome.org/events/edventure-soup/
