We will run a weekly drop-in where we will issue a daily return bus fare for the following week for every woman who attends. This will enable the women to access the group with ease and not have to worry about the burden of travel expenses which are not included in statutory support, if it is being received.
Why they need our serviceMany of the women & children who attend our drop-in are amongst some of the most vulnerable, socially isolated and marginalised in North Staffordshire. Women who are not allowed to work, and have little or no statutory support or are about to have their support withdrawn. Many then become homeless & destitute on our streets, and are forced into extreme measures to support themselves. We want to provide everyone woman who attends with travel expenses to ease the burden of transport costs.
Plan and expected resultsTo start with, every week we hope to help at least 5 women attend the Embrace Drop-In by helping them with their travel expenses. Within a year we hope to build this to at least 15 women a week. This will enable socially isolated women, and their children, to start to build friends and a community. In the long term, we hope this will encourage a more cohesive community & society.
