1 in 4 pregnancies end in miscarriage, 60 times this year alone, a Taunton family who have passed the 24 week stage of pregnancy will be given the news that their much wanted baby has died. 7 families will watch their poorly baby be cared for in SCBU and pass away. The Butterfly Boxes that we supply bring a little comfort, acknowledge their baby and help them to make memories that will last a lifetime.
Why they need our serviceFour years ago my son got distressed during labour at full term. I woke up after my cesarean to be told that my son had not woken up. I spent 3 days in hospital, with fantastic aftercare from the staff on the labour ward at Musgrove Park Hospital. During that time we bathed and dressed our son, we cradled him, got hand and footprints, and have many photographs and videos of this time. Our Butterfly Boxes mean that parents can create similar memories with their baby. This helps people grieve.
Plan and expected resultsA successful outcome for this project would be to raise enough money to supply 12 Butterfly Boxes to the Labour Ward, and 50 Butterfly Boxes to the Early Pregnancy Unit and 4 Butterfly Boxes to the Neo natal unit.
