A daily Cafe style drop in providing a safe and comfortable place for homeless clients to access refreshments, lunch, engage in activities and attend stand alone workshops on topics such as; money management, cooking on a budget, self esteem, managing stress, assertiveness, universal credit, anger and you, domestic abuse, understanding your tenancy.
Why they need our serviceMany of the clients using this service have no where to go during the day, particularly if they, for example, live in a Night Shelter. Each morning Cafe Plus runs themed activities such as baking, Ready Steady Cook, arts and crafts, help with form filling, benefit advice, 1-1 support, housing or job search,internet / facebook access and referral to outside agencies. The Samaritans attend once a month to provide additional support to clients in crisis.
Plan and expected resultsCafe Plus enables homeless clients the opportunity to engage in meaningful activities and allows staff and volunteers to draw alongside and assist clients as they present. In the first month of running, 169 visits were made to Cafe Plus and we have already assisted people into settled accommodation and helped people move on into work and training opportunities.
