My Nana, Monica Mudway, was one of the most beautiful, kind-hearted, gracious souls I have ever had the honour to know, and her entire life was devoted to helping others, particularly those in difficult situations. With my grandparents living in Stafford, and me growing up in Essex, seeing them was reserved for school holidays and was a joyous occasion. We would spend a lot of time out and about, particularly walking Cannock Chase, feeding the ducks at the duck pond and enjoying the forest views. We sadly lost my Nana to a short illness in April 2022, and she only knew me as someone who generally despised all forms of exercise (except a summer of Zumba obsession in 2012). Since the beginning of this year, I've taken up running, and in April I ran my first-ever race, a 10k. After I finished this race, I wanted to take on a half marathon, and I saw that there was one taking place around Cannock Chase; what better way to honour my Nana and feel close to her once again than to take on the challenge where we have so many memories together. Wanting to honour her even further, I decided to fundraise for The House of Bread. The House of Bread was very close to her heart and she was a keen supporter of them for years, often speaking of the incredible work they do. She even requested for donations to be made to them in her memory after her passing, and I want to fundraise for them in her name.
The House of Bread support vulnerable people in Stafford, providing a meal, advice, support, a food bank and a safe and welcoming place. Any donation to help them continue their vital work is hugely appreciated.
