The Campus Skatepark Academy will be a way for us to recognise and reward the promise and potential that individuals have and give them free access to the skatepark. By doing this we also aim to boost their confidence by giving them the opportunity to become part of an elite team. The criteria for being invited to join the Academy will not be based on ability alone but will also be based on background and social disadvantage.

Campus Skatepark is located in an area of Bristol that is classed as being socially deprived. Approximately 25% of our members are from a household with a very low income and many of these young people would like to attend the project more often than they can afford to do so. The Campus Skatepark Academy will be a way to fund the participation of disadvantaged young people giving them the opportunity to attend on a more regular basis.

The Campus Skatepark Academy will promote active and healthy lifestyles by being based around the young people being active in the skatepark. There will also be a healthy living element included with free fruit being available to promote healthy eating. Emphasis will also be based on socialising opportunities and building friendships and confidence through peer mentoring and informal learning.
