
Many inner city scheme agencies; social work, health, local schools and voluntary organisations refer families. Over the past few years this project has developed to four caravans in an attempt to better meet the level of need.
Why they need our serviceThis year we provided 120 families a week's holiday for £20. Even with four caravans there were 70 unsuccessful applications. Our target group is families who would not otherwise afford a holiday and where the children would benefit from the break. Unfortunately the level of poverty in and around Glasgow is such that there is no shortage of need in this area. We've started fundraising for the new season, which starts in March 2011 when the fee will rise to £30 per family.
Plan and expected resultsWe have a good level of communication with referring agencies throughout Glasgow and the scheme operates well. Priority is given as fairly as possible based on need and first time referrals are given priority over rerefferals. The feedback from families is positive and they speak of health improvements, reduced stress and great fun!
