Those of you who know me well will appreciate that I do occasionally like a cheeky glass of prosecco or red wine. However, there are times I feel I could go without and October is now quite well established as that sober time. So, I have decided to make it more worthwhile by supporting a local charity.
The villagers of Ashampstead contribute to and support in many ways the Reading based charity Berkshire Women’s Aid. I have decided to help in this in my own small way.
The charity is locally based and helps women and their families find refuge and assists them through uncertain times.
Sometimes they only arrive in the clothes they are wearing so the refuge provides the essentials many of us take for granted as well as a particularly safe place to stay.
Many of my good friends and colleagues have a very strong support structure whether it be families or friends and I hope you can help me raise some needed funds for those in our local community that do not have that support.
I am hoping to get one hundred people to donate £3 each (less than the cost of a pint of beer or glass of wine), or any more if you can, so that I can reach my goal of £300.
Many thanks to those who can support me, in any way, in this challenging month.
