Concrete Rose is moving fast! In just 2 years, we’ve built a supported lodgings scheme for young people at risk of homelessness, and a mentoring programme for care-experienced and estranged students.
The impact of this work is significant and best communicated through the stories of the young people involved such as that of Jess below:
Jess* left home at 16 having been the victim of sexual abuse. At this point she had stopped going to college and faced significant challenges around self-harm and suicidal ideation. After moving in with hosts she restarted education and, in September 2023, began a university degree. “Supported lodgings has made me a lot happier. It's made such a difference. It's made me realize that I can't let people treat me the way they did and you don't have to do everything by yourself. This is what it feels like to be a normal family.”
Having proved that these two programme areas work we now find ourselves in the position of needing to rapidly scale up our work to be in a position to respond to demand from referrers and commissioning partners.
Therefore we are looking to generate a £110k cash injection to cover anticipated costs across the next 18 months, enabling us to expand the team, meet demand and operate a financially sustainable model.
How the funding will be spent
The majority of the funding will be spent on staff costs for the next 18 months. This will allow us to expand the current team, increase our service provision and generate income that will ensure our long-term sustainability.
