On Friday 4th March 2022, Nugent will be asking their supports to give up their bed for the night to experience just a fraction of the challenges of what it is like to be homeless. Homelessness is a real and growing social issue on the streets of Liverpool. People sleeping rough in England has more than doubled in recent years, so Nugent are hoping to raise as much funds as possible to continue helping those who depend on their support.
I will be sleeping out to support the service my sister (Sophie) works for - New Beginnings (part of Nugent); a collaboration with Torus, it aims to provide good quality temporary accommodation for individuals who are homeless or at risk of homelessness and have support needs. I will be giving up my bed no matter what the weather to sleep outside at the iconic Strawberry Fields.
Nugent are working in collaboration with the Salvation Army for this event, who are raising money for Strawberry Fields. The funds raised will provide support packages for those who have been suffering from homelessness, transitioning into their accommodation. It will provide the basic essentials such as pots, pans, towels etc., which is often items that we take for granted.
