This year I will be completing my third ROF, a return to base' bike ride of circa 400 miles starting in the French Capital and following, in part, the classic Avenue Verte route , through Gisors, to Dieppe, overnight ferry to Newhaven and then a cycle to London. An overnight stop in the East End. A Sunday ride back to MKRUFC where a reception committee will be there to receive us in all our our splendour.
We will be raising funds for MKRUFC and our nominated charities below with a little bit of detail about who they are and what they do.
Willen Hospice - provide free care to end of life patients and their families in Milton Keynes and surrounding areas. Only 15% of their running costs are met by the NHS, the rest is fundraised. As a much needed community facility who have supported many of us personally, team ROF are happy to continue to raise vital funds for Willen Hospice.
Cardiac Risk in the Young (CRY) - in the UK, at least 12 young people die a week of undiagnosed heart conditions. CRY is working to reduce the frequency of this, to support those who are diagnosed with a potentially life-threatening cardiac condition and bereavement services to those families affected by Young Sudden Cardiac Death (YSCD). We aim to raise enough money to have a cardiac screening day for all MKRUFC players aged 14-35 years to identify anyone who may be at risk.
