Sunshine and Smiles, founded in 2011, is a registered charity that provides a support network for children and young people who have Down Syndrome, and their families, in Leeds. Unlike other cities, Leeds did not have a support network to help children and families living with Down Syndrome. Sunshine and Smiles fulfils this important need and provides a vital role in the community. The charity aims to improve the lives and opportunities of children and young people with Down Syndrome by offering speech and language therapy, regular groups and activities, individual support and advocacy for families, as well as raising awareness and shifting preconceptions in the wider community. Sunshine and Smiles is an ever growing network and it needs to be sustainable in the long term so that they can continue to provide support and activities to children, young people and their families. To do this they rely on donations, grants and fundraising activities Approx. 12 members of CDS staff and their spouses will be taking up the challenge of the beautiful but rugged Yorkshire 3 Peaks. The Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge takes on the peaks of Pen-y-ghent, Whernside and Ingleborough, usually in this order, and in under 12 hours. These peaks form part of the Pennine range, and encircle the head of the valley of the River Ribble, in the Yorkshire Dales National Park. The CDS 3 Peaky Blinders will be taking part in this challenge on Saturday 18th June 2016, Please help support this fantastic local charity, by donating whatever you can! I'm sure they'll be a few sore feet at the end of the challenge that's for sure !! Many thanks From the CDS 3 Peaky Blinders
