This month is the launch of Flamingo Chicks' May 100 event and I've challenged myself to climb Ben Nevis (on my stairs- yep that 8810 steps) during May to raise money for a great charity Flamingo Chicks- helping to keep disabled kids dancing during lockdown!
Flamingo Chicks is an inclusive Bristol based dance charity that provide ballet classes for children with disabilities and illnesses such as cancer. My children Hannah and Joe have been volunteering for this amazing charity for years now and I have seen what great opportunities and classes the charity has provided to children all over the country and abroad!
The coronavirus pandemic has seen a surge for Flamingo Chick's work but at a time where its traditional fundraising has either stopped or become limited. Even in 'normal' circumstances 65% of families with disabled children report feeling isolated and we know Covid-19 is taking a huge toll.
Flamingo Chicks new virtual classes have been a great success with 20,000 views and families reporting they are a life-line, making them feel part of a community again. We need to be there for these families now more than ever! Thank you so much for your generosity!
