I’m doing an Ultra Marathon and will be walking/running 100km in aid of the Acorns Project, a service which supports children and their families affected by domestic abuse.
Domestic abuse can be devastating on those who have witnessed, experienced or seen the aftereffects and sadly many are children in the home. Research shows that children who experience domestic abuse are significantly more likely to suffer from emotional, behavioural and learning difficulties than those who do not, and that the impact can last into adulthood. These difficulties may include, but are not limited to, anxiety, depression, aggression, nightmares, bedwetting, sleep problems, self-harm and low self-esteem*.
Your gift will help ensure that services such as Acorns continue to help those families in need of specialist services and a safe environment to support their recovery.
Thank you for taking the time to read this. For further information on Acorns please see www.acornsproject.org.uk*.
