Babbasa is a brilliant local charity that was formed in 2010 by four young graduates who observed rising levels of youth unemployment, educational underachievement and the rapid decline in youth aspirations in Bristol’s ethnically diverse inner city communities.
‘Babbasa’ – a word which represents the idea of ordinary citizens coming together to support members of society in need, shares two strong beliefs; that young people’s aspirations and opportunities should not be determined by their background, and that every young person has a unique skill or talent which, if explored and nurtured, can advance humanity in a significant way
They have developed a collaborative network of over 500 cross-sector organisations, and their programmes have supported 2,200+ young people, from 67 cultural groups, to successfully advance their professional ambitions. in 2020, Babbasa were awarded a Queen’s Award for Enterprise for Promoting Opportunity for their dedication to bringing equal opportunity to Bristol.
At GDS Group, we have partnered with Babbasa, and to support such a great cause, on the 29/30 August, for two days, I will be in fancy dress. For the whole time. Wherever I go, whatever I do.
The catch? Your donations will determine what my costume is!
From a princess, to a bottle of hand sanitiser, the choice is yours. Every penny donated will go into the fancy dress pot, and whatever the total by the 5th of July, thus determines my costume.
