After a 12 month Hiatus from fundraising, I have committed to doing a charity event in the new year, once again on behalf of the Cricket Asylum Foundation, a charity I helped set up a few years ago. The charities goals are to make cricket (and sports in general) accessible to all through a combination of scholarships a kit library and grant funding for courses. We currently have 30+ kids who receive school dinners on a holiday camp that includes a hot meal and cricket related games. It also aims to help with social integration with a highlight from last year being a game of cricket organised for a group of young asylum seekers against a friendly cricket side.
This year I am co-driver on a Banger Rally, driving a 25 year-old car from Portsmouth to Banjul in the Gambia. Easy I hear you say! Well as I said maybe not as physically demanding as last time, but with some days driving over 500 miles through the Western Sahara driving through 8+ international borders and wild camping in the desert it’s not a cake walk! Plus, with my (lack of) mechanical skills it may be a bit of a quick learning curve.

The total distance covered is over 3700 miles and once in the Gambia, our car will be auctioned off for a local charity. I will be keeping a regular diary of the trip to keep you upto date with the mishaps and problems that no doubt arise from such a foolish endeavour!

The trip is self-funded with, once again, 100% of donations going to the charity – which itself is completely volunteer led, so 100% of your donations go to those people at home who need them. If you feel you can contribute in any way, no matter how small, please click on the donate button below. If you would like to sponsor me as a company and get your logo on the car, drop me a DM and I can give you more info.
