On the next two Sundays I'll be running in two 10k events and I've decided to try and raise some cash for a good cause in the process.
The events I'm running are very different.
On Sunday 10th I'll be tackling the Holymoorside 10k (located near Chesterfield, Derbyshire). The 10k course passes through scenic Derbyshire countryside, along quiet country lanes. It starts with a brutal climb uphill for 4km and then winds across the moor with a fast, downhill finish into the village. Last year I managed 47 minutes 40 seconds, and I'll be aiming to beat that this year.
On Sunday 17th I'll be running the Bognor Prom 10k Road Race. This is a flat, high-speed course that starts by West Park in Aldwick and follows the Bognor Regis Esplanade through Felpham and returns along the sea front to finish. This is a new event for me, so I'm not sure what to expect! I'll stick my neck out and aim for 42 minutes.
The charity I'd like to nominate is Cruse Bereavement Care (http://www.cruse.org.uk/West-sussex-area); a fantastic cause that provides free counselling and support on a one to one basis to anyone, including children, who are bereaved by death in West Sussex. They offer free information and advice to anyone who has been affected by a death provide friendship groups giving an opportunity for bereaved people to meet and join social activities (Worthing & Mid Sussex Branches). They also raise the public's awareness of the needs of bereaved people through information services. The money raised will go towards training new volunteers.
