Welsh Hills for charity (140 miler)

Short version - this Sunday, I'm riding 140 miles and trying to raise money for a local charity called Quest For Learning, please donate anything if you can. Long Version You may or may not know that I have been riding my "plastic racer" for a few years now and have specifically tried to avoid going on longer rides for the sole purpose of raising money as I tend to be of the opinion that when I want to give money to charity I will do it under my own steam and to the charities of my choosing. This is no longer the case ! This year I am working with a fantastic group of people at called Quest For Learning who help children who are struggling with reading and mathematics close the gap to get back on speed with mainstream education. Have you ever sat in a lesson and not understood something only to spend the rest of the time stuck on that point while others around you continue learning ? It's like watching the knowledge train leave the station with everyone on it apart from you. Now as an adult I know how to deal with that, I can ask, but I'm not sure I would ask more than once as it can become embarrassing and as a child that can be extremely daunting. The next thing I thought was " well surely the state should cover that through normal teaching ? " Unfortunately that isn't true, there is a band of abilities that are taught but once you are outside of that you can be left behind. This is where Quest For Learning helps, using professional teachers who help bridge the gap back to main stream learning. This isn't about famine or cancer but QFL do have a huge impact on turning young peoples lives around, without education we are in knowledge poverty and significantly disadvantaged for the rest of our lives and QFL change life's journey for as many children as they can. This is not a huge charity and any donation will make a massive difference to them and the children whose education they enhance. The ride is not flat and it is going to hurt if that helps !
