I'm assuming if you are on my page you are a close friend who knows how depression has really been the black zombie figure (ed.Emma) on my shoulder at many difficult and frightening times in my life. There are many of you though who don't know about how depression threatened to eat me up at what has undoubtedly been the most horrible and challenging time in my whole life. The fact that I received incredible help and support from you all, around and during that time - and that over the years I have learned some invaluable lessons in survival myself, has ensured that I am, thank God and my Angels, in an amazing new life place back twirling FR and PR balls in the air as a volunteer in this fabulous organisation, Aware, with the most dynamic and genuine team ever! But back to my most recent depression - it has never more scary in fact than for (amazingly really) just a couple of totally black weeks during my painful recovery from a near fatal car accident - me, driving alone, head on (well around a difficult hairpin corner) into a coach. Almost everything that could be broken (36 fractures) was. Including shockingly my singing voice, also badly damaged, from all of the hard plastic/metal tubes being pushed down my throat while I was in a coma and during all the operations - and of course my essential core muscles around my damaged diaphram were just wrecked too:-( I want to sincerely thank the wonderful surgeons, doctors and nurses who saved my life from the bottom of my heart. I know there is a reason that I have been sent back into this world. That as the black zombie tried to engulf me and probably totally destroy me - my Angels surrounded me and YOU WERE ALL THERE and something good gripped me inside - some inner strength which was feral and - well that's why I'll be walking/scooting on this fundraiser supporting all of us who struggle with depression in NI. Thank you - please be as generous as you can be xxx
