🚶‍♂️🏊‍♂️🏃‍♂️ 50km Challenge to Stop male suicide – 30 days of April 2025

My Cause: Preventing Male Suicide

75% of UK suicides are men (gov.uk). The most at-risk group? Men aged 45-64—fathers, brothers, colleagues, and friends.

This April, I’m pushing myself to complete 50km by walking, (maybe jogging!), swimming, or cycling to raise funds for [Men’s Minds Matter](https://www.mensmindsmatter.org), a charity tackling male suicide through helplines, therapies and mental health programs.

Why This Matters to Me Many of you know that I work with estranged parents and ex offenders, many of whom battle isolation, legal barriers and despair. I see daily how mental health struggles can spiral into dark thoughts. Too often, men suffer silently, believing that they have nowhere to turn and that they need to appear to be the strength in their family unit.

I’ve a longstanding knee injury from a motorbike accident but I am taking on this challenge to mirror the resilience I see in the men that I support. If they don't back down then neither will I.

How Your Donation Helps

Every pound raised will fund:

Crisis helplines – A lifeline for men in their darkest moments 24/7.

Therapy & counselling – Professional support to heal invisible wounds and prevent isolation.

Awareness campaigns – Challenging the “tough it out” mentality. Support of mental health programs for high risk groups like ex-offenders and estranged fathers
