Those who know Forest Adventures at Yorda, know what an absolutely amazing space it is - and how much it is loved and valued by so many. Not just by the kids who run in week after week to play in the mud kitchens and help cook campfire snacks, but also by those parents for whom it has become a safe space, a haven, and even a lifesaver. Then there are those who are at the very heart of what Yorda is all about - the young people who attend daycare and enjoy the magic of nature; the frammock, the swing, the campfire - many of whom are unable to communicate verbally but whose faces say it all when they set foot in our forest.
Our forest has had to close for 10 days whilst we have people in to treat the nests causing Oak Processionary Moth (read about that here).
The presence of these creatures has caused inconvenience, irritation (literally), disappointment, and fear. It is estimated that the cost of making the forest safe to open again will be in excess of £3000. That’s a lot of money.
During the school holidays we are running 6 forest sessions a week - that’s a lot of disappointment in cancelling even just a weeks’ sessions. And a lot of revenue too.
If you have experienced the wonder that is the Forest Adventures at Yorda - or you have yet to visit - and would like to ensure it reopens just as soon as we are able, please do consider making a donation to this fund.
We are desperate to get back to Forest business and really hope to see all our friends very soon.
Thank you for your support,
Jess (Forest Volunteer and mum of Forest lovers)
***UPDATE***
The critters have gone! But we are still left with a hefty bill to pay, so if you do feel able to support us, we would be hugely grateful :)
