The Highways team at Carrington West will be climbing Snowdon in aid of Hannah’s Holiday Home Appeal, a local children’s cancer charity set up in memory of Hannah Westbrook. Aged 8 Hannah was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. Over 18 months she underwent chemotherapy, radiotherapy and a stem cell transplant. During treatment she constantly fundraised for the ward that treated her. She was always on the go, had a smile and could really light up a room. Sadly, in September 2004 she passed away peacefully at home with her family. Her loved ones set up Hannah’s Holiday Home Appeal. A holiday home was brought in the New Forest, with facilities for the families to enjoy. In the first year 12 families were supported and over the past 15 years through continuous fundraising, it has been possible to raise enough funds to buy a further two lodges and replace the original. The charity now supports over 150 families/year with a FREE holiday whilst offering telephone support, visits and much more.
