On the 2nd September, I will be cycling ‘coast to coast’ from Blackpool Tower to Whitby Whale Bones. 141 miles in total. We will be setting off at 7am and not stopping till we get there. No overnight stops. This challenge isn't about speed, fitness or indeed a race - but more about endurance, grit, determination and comradery needed to complete all 141 miles together, as a team. We will be riding the 20% Stock-a-Bank climb, Col du Ingleton and Buttertubs Pass.
Why are we doing it? To raise money for charity Unmasked Mental Health. Here is a little about what they do…
Unmasked Mental Health was created with a desire to help others living with mental health issues, those who may be experiencing the same issues and coping with them alone. Our goal is simple: to provide a safe, stable regulated platform for users to communicate with each other and create bonds and friendships that they may have missed out on. With an estimated 1 in 4 people experiencing some form of mental illness, it's probable that you, or one of your loved ones, could be living with a mental health issue in silence. The chance to talk to someone like-minded, who may be experiencing the same issues as you are, can be a real boost to one's confidence and self-esteem. Every penny raised in our fundraising events goes directly back into Unmasked Mental Health to help us to continue to deliver our life-saving services for not only women and men across the UK but now children too. Some examples of the services we provide include:
Free Peer support groups across the UK
Free peer support app on Apple & Android
Low-Cost, subsidised, counselling service
Workplace Mental health Training
School workshops and support
