Naga Mas has developed a new programme called 'Gamelan Games and Gong' for schools in partnership with Glasgow City Council and Youth Music Initiative. Working with primary schools over 7 weeks, pupils are introduced to traditional Indonesian music, explore rhythmic and melodic games and create their own group compositions. The project culminates in a performance day by the children and Gamelan Naga Mas.
Why they need our serviceWorkshop sessions are a great introduction to gamelan and can provide a taster for people of all ages and abilities. They are available to groups of under 20 participants. Each session explores listening and ensemble playing with an expert tutor and is tailored to the group's specific needs.
Plan and expected resultsWe are currently fundraising for our future programme and expect to run workshops in a variety of settings later this year.
