Running the half marathon for Chandos House!
My name is Connie and if anyone knows me, I’m extremely unfit and most definitely NOT a runner... However I signed up to do the half marathon with some of my work colleagues a few months ago and quite honestly, I was going to drop out because I was feeling extremely unmotivated and anxious about it all. HOWEVER, a couple of days ago, the guitarist from my favourite band IDLES, Lee Kiernan, posted about Chandos House. He spoke about how they personally helped him and how they are having their funding cut and are in desperate need of money to keep going. His story resonated with me and how he shared his story inspired me and I decided that I want to raise money for Chandos and help them to carry on doing what they do. Here’s a bit more about Chandos House from their website: “As a treatment centre, Chandos provides active, therapeutic intervention through counselling, group work and individual body work in a supportive and semi-structured environment, with the emphasis on health promotion and emotional well-being. All residents are encouraged to actively engage with the planning of their own recovery.” Addiction is something that can take hold of anyone and to actively seek help is an incredibly brave and scary thing to do so having somewhere like Chandos House, that creates such a kind, supportive and open environment, is extremely important so if you could sponsor me and donate some money, that would be incredible. Thank you in advance!
