Team Core Music: Owain, Ben and Rachel Owain, Ben and Rachel all volunteer or work at Core Music. Owain is a cyclist and Ben is a runner. Owain and Ben like to engage in "banter" on Strava. They thought it would be a good idea to enter the Kielder Run-Bike-Run as a team. They needed a third team member... Rachel - Ben's wife - was recruited. Core Music is a community music hub in Hexham. Our mission is to make music accessible to all, whatever your age, ability, background or preferred style. You can have lessons or join a regular club; go to a one-off workshop or attend a gig; you can even buy instruments that our volunteers have made using recycled/reclaimed wood. We're a not-for-profit social enterprise which means that every penny we make is reinvested in projects to provide more opportunities for our community to get involved with making music. For example, the Ucorelele project is teaching long-term unemployed people how to make and repair instruments. On Oct 1 2016, Team Core Music will be taking part in the Kielder Run-Bike-Run event to raise money for this worthwhile cause. Ben will be running the first 11km leg, then Owain will cycle for 25km, and Rachel will run the final 6km. The trails at Kielder are well known for being both beautiful and brutal for runners and cyclists alike and whilst Owain and Ben cycle and run silly long distances just for fun, Rachel needs a bit more motivation, so please give generously to help her over the line!
