And I'm doing a last minute 'Couch to 20k' so I can run in this year's Great North Run for Ouseburn Farm. We couldn't fill the final place in our team and I didn't want it to go spare! It would really help keep me going if you could see your way to a donation :)
For those of you that live in Newcastle, you know what a special place Ouseburn Farm is. For those that don't, here's our mantra which best describes what we're all about and why we matter:
This is a place for growing. Plants, fruit and veg, animals, but most of all, people. We cultivate joy here. And learning. We nurture self-confidence and a sense of belonging. You’ll feel it as soon as you walk through our door. Lives are being enriched. Needs are being nourished. It couldn’t happen without our volunteers. Or your donations. We’re a charity. Run for people, not for profits. A community-spirited place where everyone is welcome. And valued. This is a happy place. A wholesome place. A human place.
Centred around our vibrant urban smallholding in the heart of Newcastle upon Tyne, Ouseburn Farm is a hive of community activity and empowers people with learning difficulties, disabilities and autistic spectrum disorder (LD) to learn, connect and overcome challenges. Our mission is to educate and increase the health and wellbeing of everyone in our city and the wider region, with a special focus on the most vulnerable residents. The charity makes a huge difference to the lives of everyone who walks through its gates, they tell us every day and our independent Social Impact Report 2019 reinforces this. For every £1 we invest in our community programmes, we generate an impressive £9.70 of social value to our community.
Please support my Couch to 20k Great North Run and help keep this amazing city farm growing!
