The sessions focus on helping children improve their English & Maths skills through creative arts activities and exercises. The sessions are designed to IMPROVE CONFIDENCE in English & Maths while developing the KNOWLEDGE and ABILITY of these subjects by using them in everyday life. Creative Academy gives pupils skills that they can take back to the classroom. Activities include creative writing, grammar, spelling, addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
Why they need our serviceCreative Academy is a new initiative, originally funded as a pilot project by London Borough of Barking and Dagenham (LBBD) Libraries Service, to provide pupils aged 7-11 years additional support in English & Maths. LBBD Library Service responded to inquiries for support from both children and parents and asked GSA to deliver the sessions. Creative Academy runs 2 hour-and-a-half long weekly sessions during term time for children aged 7-11 to meet this need.
Plan and expected resultsUsing alternative methods of learning, we are able to help provide local children with a better chance of improving their life skills and, in turn, their future prospects. The sessions aim to improve the children's confidence in using Maths and English in everyday life, and provides them transferable skills that they can take back to the classroom. We provide a safe space where learning is creative and fun without the pressure of tests or exams.
