After my first half marathon for Syrian refugees, here is a new sport challenge for another good cause! On Sunday 1st November I will cycle 40 miles along the Thames (from Putney to Walton on Thames and back) for Southside Young Leaders' Academy. But there are actually 2 challenges for me here: 1) I started to cyle long distances only a few weeks ago, and on this stony river path, it's really going to be a challenge for me!! 2) I am organising the event! And it's a first, so I really hope that everything will go well and we will reach our overall target of £5,000 for SYLA. But I really need your support for my first fundraising event! :) As one of my supporters, you will contribute to the Literacy Project of SYLA. This charity supports boys of African and Afro-Caribbean descent from the age of 8 to help them reach their full potential and become independent, responsible and productive members of the community. These boys are living in deprived areas of London and are often at risk of academic exclusion. Their progress at school is severely hampered by poor reading and writing skills. That's why SYLA has created the Big Literacy Project, which will encourage boys to enjoy reading and enable them to gain confidence in writing and performing their work. So will you be one of my generous supporters? ;) Every little helps!
