We are fundraising to make a life changing and career starting trip to Thailand possible for a group of exceptionally talented young people from Wolverhampton.

In June 2024, Central Youth Theatre's emerging artist company, Forefront, attended an international youth theatre festival where they met Thai young company, Mdm Plibani, from the Morodokmai theatre community in northern Bangkok. After impressing each other with their performances, Forefront were invited out to visit the creative community in Thailand and take part in their festival.

During their time in Thailand, a group of young emerging artists and performers from Wolverhampton, will exchange their skills with other groups, perform their own devised piece of theatre and explore the Moradokmai methodology, inspired by Buddhist wisdom. They will also meet and work with the local community in Thailand, sharing our expertise and skills with them.

Once they return from the trip, all of the incredible emerging artists will bring their learning back to the hundreds of CYT members, ensuring all young people in our community benefit from the experience.
This opportunity might be the experience that kick starts the careers of a number of young people from Wolverhampton, voices the creative industries need desperately.

They will also get to work with one of Birmingham's most popular artists, Sipho Eric Ndlovu, and CYT's Interim CEO, Mathilde Petford, to create their show. Sipho is a professional poet, writer and theatre maker who has worked with huge companies, Rambert, Google, Birmingham Hippodrome. He is also Poet Laureate of The University of Sheffield Social Sciences.

Every penny that we raise will go directly to the young people, helping make the costs as low as possible, ensuring our young people face no barriers to this life changing experience.
