CoDa will continue to offer the same uplifting sessions, live-streamed through a TV in the hospital common room. RHN can now have up to 6 patients + staff together in one place, so they can dance with our specialist dance artists via video call. CoDa are specialists in safeguarding, with industry-leading online delivery policies and practices to keep everyone safe and having fun. After initial testing, the hospital wants to stream workshops to multiple common rooms, reaching even more patients.

Why they need our service

Since Covid-19 hit the UK in March 2020, neurodisabled resident patients at Royal Hospital for Neuro-disabilities have been shielding alone in their rooms. CoDa used to deliver weekly dance workshops on 3 wards, creating moments for social connection, increasing mobility and confidence building. "There is a clear benefit to all our patients - we want to roll dance out onto all 12 wards," RHN staff. By moving workshops online, we can continue to deliver vital social connection and movement rehab.

Plan and expected results

30 severely neurodisabled people will take part in 6 dance workshops. We expect up to 100 attendees delivering on extra wards. 2 specialist dance artists employed to design and deliver workshops. After evaluating the impact of the online workshops, we can seek funds to continue and grow delivery - vital for participant health and CoDa's future. "I was reluctant to get involved in the dance classes, but as soon as I did, I felt better about myself and want to do more." Ira, participant with MS.
