Hello everyone, I've decided to do something I would never normally do. The fact is, I'm not into camping because I love my cosy bed however I think it is time to get a lil taste of what some people in our society have to go through. So I'll be joining the Big Sleepout 2015 for Wycombe Homeless Connection on Friday 20th November. Wycombe Homeless Connection provides emergency help to those on the street, in many cases to rebuild their lives in the long-term. The charity is mostly voluntary funded and makes all donations go a long way.
I don't know any homeless people personally. The only contact I have ever had with them has been when I have walked past people sitting down and they ask me, "Any spare change sir?" Now even if I don't give them money, I'll always make a point of acknowledging that they exist by replying to them. On these occasions, I've only ever been met with politeness, even going as far as a "Thank you" for actually making them feel like a person again instead of feeling invisible and cut out of existence. I want to raise awareness and help break the stigma attached to homeless people as well as do my bit to help make a difference to their lives.
So I'm asking everyone who reads this to do at least one of two things; spread the word of the Big Sleepout 2015 and my fundraising for it or secondly, if you're able to, please consider donating whatever you can afford to a good cause.
Thank you :)
