Every child has the right to play. That's why I'm running 13.1 miles to raise money for New Ark - a fantastic Peterborough-based community charity which runs an adventure playground, city farm and eco centre. At New Ark children can enjoy all kinds of play, safely under adult supervision, indoors and out, all year round.
My wife Linda works in the preschool playgroup, and the young children that she spends her days with have access to the most amazing outdoor adventure playground, city farm and woodland garden. However the indoor room needs spucing up, and so I want to raise money to buy a new carpet for the quiet corner. This will help make it cosy and inviting for the children to sit on and read books, sing songs and talk during circle time.
Seeing money being donated for New Ark will give me more motivation to get up on cold, dark winter mornings and leave my warm home to go out running.
