We provide activities for our children and young people, aged from 5 to 18 years old especially children with disabilities who need extra support in communication and homework. We would like to provide language and mentoring support, traditional cuisine, sport and drama workshops. The project would help our children to improve not only their academic study but also the behaviour and general knowledge, improve their confidence and self-esteem every Sunday from 10am to 1pm.
Why they need our serviceWe identified that the was a gap of understanding and the lack of communication between Vietnamese generations due to the barriers of language and culture. The second generation of Vietnamese suffered from the lack of ownership or belonging to either Vietnamese or English culture. The project was designed to meet these particular demands and effectively support disadvantaged people by taking part actively, barriers would be broken down and improve their confidence in everyday lives.
Plan and expected resultsEvery Sunday, up to 50 children/young people and their families attend our school, we engage them with purposeful activities in a safe environment, they are encouraged to eat healthily and communicate with each others. We also create opportunities for them to engage positively with their peers and their community and to encourage lifelong learning. We expect these numbers to double over the next 12 months.
