Team Fundraisers

The Deaf.F programme (Deaf Expect Adventure For the Future) is run by deaf leaders and offers fun activities and workshops for young people with hearing impairments, their siblings and hearing friends. These activities and workshops provide opportunities for young people to develop their personal and social skills, to meet with friends and build up networking opportunities which help prevent isolation in the community.

Why they need our service

D/deaf young people face many barriers in their lives to accessing activities that hearing people are able to access readily. These barrriers include communication and a general lack of understanding of deafness from providers. Through the support of deaf workers and interpreters these barriers are removed and young people are enabled to become part of their local communities.

Plan and expected results

The expected outcomes of this project are - * access to actvities that would be inaccessible due to communication barriers * reduced isolation * opportunities to meet with peers * increased confidence and self-esteem * development of social and personal skills * development of independence skills
