On 26/0915 we shall take part in the Blacklight run in Edinburgh. A Blacklight Run™ is a unique night 5K fun run focused less on speed and more on UV Neon Glowing fun with friends/family. We currently have a team of 8 people registered. This may not be the most challenging of events we could have chosen but we wanted to do something fun, colourful and full of life after such a difficult time.
A few people have asked about our experience. We are happy to share what happened, so please do not feel it's a taboo subject. Yes mental health issues seem to carry a stigma in society, but we believe in breaking down barriers. No one should feel ashamed of having experienced depression. If you had diabetes you would seek help to control it. Same applies with mental health.
Petals charity provides a specialized counselling service our local area. They offer counselling for those who suffer trauma or loss during pregnancy or birth. They are already expanding and the help they offer is often life changing for those who receive it.
The journey of pregnancy is full of hopes and expectations, dreams and fantasies, which, for most people, ends in one of life's most exciting events – the birth of a healthy baby. Sadly, every year, over 12,000 parents in the UK are grief-stricken by the tragic loss of their babies. Hundreds more suffer miscarriage of their pregnancy, others struggle with traumatic birth experiences. This results in many parents struggling to cope with grief, trauma, depression, fear, anger, frustration and resentment.
£250 pays for 6 specialist counselling sessions.
Target of £250 achieved 12/08/15 now aiming for £500!!!!
If we reach £500 then James has agreed to have his legs waxed in honour of what we have achieved. Surely it's worth a couple of pounds to help make that happen? Video evidence will be provided.
Thank you for your support.
