A 6 week long creative project with children and young people, to develop the arts provision in the city surrounding Coleridge. It will be a brand new project to be based at Coleridge, exploring dance and digital media, with an end performance/exhibition. The project aims to work with 5 defined groups of children and young people, encouraging and facilitating cross overs between them to increase teamwork and leadership skills.
Why they need our serviceSIN Cru has been running community workshops in Cambridge since 2001 and is locally recognised as an organisation providing high-quality, safe, creative workshops for children and young people. We recognise there is a need to address a gap at this particular age range from written and verbal participant feedback and requests from parents. Furthermore, we know that our activities are accessible and have increased the participants' level of attendance, concentration and attainment at school.
Plan and expected resultsWe believe that becoming involved in the creative arts brings opportunities to young people to shine, potentially for the first time in their lives, and that this has knock-on effects in the rest of their lives. We have seen young people increase in confidence as a result of participating in our projects, which has manifested at school in increased focus as a result of desire to work at something and achieve. We are confident that these results will be replicated with our 5 target groups.
