Dman & Friends Presents Sunshine and Smiles

We will be holding an inclusive*** safe space* night and celebration of the Leeds night life at hyde park book club on June 16th, in collaboration with Sunshine and Smiles** a Leeds based network supporting people with Down Syndrome. Sunshine and Smiles is a Leeds based Network supporting people with Down Syndrome, fulfils a vital role in the community by offering the only specific support network across Leeds for children & young people who have Down syndrome, and their families. If you want to get involved and volunteer please contact the charity directly or one of the hosts and we will be more than happy to put you in contact. Dj's will be playing from 6 pm till 4 am in both the upstairs and downstairs area and will be teamed with interactive video displays, painting/ graffiti workshops and vinyl workshops. There is also the possibility of a BBQ (weather permitting). This will be a family and everyone friendly event from 6 till 11 with calm lighting, visuals and lowered volume levels so that everyone can enjoy themselves. There will also be volunteers from start to finish in brightly coloured vests to help moderate and ensure everyone enjoys their night to the fullest extent. There will also be for part of the night representatives from the charity around and information and leaflets distributed on them. These volunteers will also be periodically carrying donation buckets with a suggested 3£ donation from 11 pm onward and pay as you feel before this point. From 11 pm onward the night will increase slowly in volume and tempo the visuals still staying at a calm level. This change will mainly be felt in the downstairs room with the upstairs room keeping a calm and atmospheric vibe to maintain what we hope will be the accessible nature of the event.
