I am proud to be running the Manchester 10k for The Riff Raff Society and Mr David Money
Para David Money of Irlam
Contracted a horrendous bug - CAPNOCYTOPHAGA
This condition was contracted when his pet dog licked an open cut on David's body. Dogs carry this harmful bacteria in their mouths.
Unbelievably his major organs started to shut down and his body developed giant blisters and in no time at all he was on life support and close to death.
The NHS saved his life but his kidneys are done in and he is awaiting a transplant. His skin has been an ongoing nightmare.
The Riff Raff visited the family and observed David's injuries including his severely septic foot & heal which is in danger of requiring amputation. David seemed a very humble guy frustrated that he can't get on and perform the tasks he used to. He was amazed local people might want to help. The British legion have helped in a small way (bought them a domestic appliance) but apart from that all major charities have rejected their call for help.
The family were very honest in admitting the mess they find themselves in because in addition to David's health situation as their finances are also shot to pieces with partner Julie having to take a break from work to care for David. Behind on their mortgage they are in danger of losing their home. This is crazy as they have paid off 95% of the mortgage when they were active and working as HGV Driver and Hospital worker respectively.
Who plans for this?
The Riff Raff have agreed to channel the proceeds of our Football & Manc 10k teams efforts in May to help this family. We’d like to pay their arrears and give them a months breathing space as well as contributing to decorate their house and get some feel good vibes rocking for David & Julie. David would love to do this himself but he’s been robbed of his ability to deliver this in every way.
Please help launch a monetary lifeboat for them and improve their lives
