DRUMWORKS 2012/13 is a new art project inspired by Africa and the Caribbean. Art therapy sessions are held on a Monday, Tuesday, Friday and Saturday mornings. DRUM members are currently working on paintings and collage, along side large papier mache animal heads and clay African masks.

Why they need our service

DRUM encourages members to work with their individual disabilities within an ongoing theme for the art session, which can be interpreted in the widest possible sense. The idea of having a set theme encourages members to learn about different cultures as well as explore and express their own approach to life, especially in light of their disabilities. A range of ideas are provided as a starting point and members soon find a subject that interests them personally within that theme.

Plan and expected results

Artwork will be exhibited in June 2013. The exhibition opens on 7th June, by Richard Harrington, MP for Watford. There is a public exhibition and open day at DRUM on Saturday 8th June from 11.30am-3.30pm. The exhibition then moves on to Cafe on The Corner (Queens Road, Watford) from Tuesday 11th June and will be exhibited until the end of June as part of the Watford Live Festival.
