**UPDATE**
**Our team successfully completed our challenge on Saturday 25 June, Climbing Criffel - 3.2 miles, 1750 ft in 2 hrs 10 mins
Screel - 3.4 miles, 1200 ft in 1 hr 40 mins
Merrick - 8.6 miles, 2900 ft in 5 hrs
Total climb of 5850 feet in 8 hrs 50 mins. We were all extremely happy with this. Weather was perfect all day up until around 250 metres from the top of Merrick when the heavens opened on us bigtime, with driving rain and visibility down to around 30 metres for the rest of the climb and for a good part of the route down again. This didn't dampen spirits however, with a very happy, smiling upbeat team finishing at the end of the day!
Massive thanks to our team - Anne Smith, Gordon Watson, Emma Neale, Dr Robin Park, Dr John Smith, Dr Seb Pflanz, & Paul Candlish my Out of Hours Colleagues. Also to Arron Smith, Finlay McLintock and Mick Kirkpatrick who completed our team. Lots of witty good natured banter and encouragement along the way made for a fantastic weekend!
There is still sponsor money to come in but we have raised over £1000.00 for the charity, exceeding our target of £600 before we even set foot on the hills!**
My name is Sue Kirkpatrick and my daughter Stephie has worked for this wonderful organisation and Amanda Saville for almost 10 years now.
Sadly, in February of this year the Charity’s founder and lead coach, Amanda lost a very bravely fought battle against cancer.
On Saturday 25 June, along with Anne and several colleagues from Dumfries and Galloway Out of Hours GP Service, our team of Co-Ordinators, Drivers, Health Care Support Workers, and a few of our local Out of Hours Doctors will set off to climb Criffel, Screel and Merrick in a day.
Please sponsor our challenge to help the coaches and volunteers who work with this wonderful charity continue what Amanda started.
"Thank you"
Sue
