We are offering variable 4 hour slots throughout the day where a carer can leave their cared for at our day centre in the care of our trained staff and volunteers on a Thursday and go about their business. On their return they will be able to join us for lunch or tea with their relative or friend before returning home.

Following a survey within our own centres, and results from Surveymonkey.com, it was apparent that carers required short term breaks up to 4 hours so that they could tend to their own needs. As a result of this we have secured a grant to enable this project to go ahead in both our centres for 2012. Further funding will enable us to expand this service.

As a result of this project we expect to relieve carers to some small extent of the caring for a short period to enable them to do the things they want or need to do. In doing this, we hope to relieve some stress and offer carers support that they feel is lacking, advise them of the help that is available to them while giving them the opportunity to meet others in the same circumstances and share experiences.
