There are 4 million children living in poverty in the UK ... 2.6 million of those are from working families ... it's just not right.
Evidence from the children's society shows that if children are born into poverty then they don't live as long as their more wealthy peers, they earn less over their life and suffer more ill health.
Together teams of people are walking 10km, 20km, 30km, 40km or 60km ... to walk 4 million steps in total ... to raise money for all the amazing work that First Days does.
First Days gives practical support to families across the length and breadth of England - giving out preloved equipment, clothes, toys, furniture, baby boxes, school uniforms and christmas presents to thousands of children each year.
I founded the charity from my kitchen table in 2013 because I couldn't stand the injustice of children growing up without benefiting from the basics that I could provide for my children. It has grown exponentially in the last four years to the amazing, fantastically run (not by me, ha!) and hugely beneficial organisation it is today.
As the chair of the trustees I know that every single penny counts towards the running of this charity - so whatever you can spare will be hugely, hugely appreciated and used incredibly wisely.
THANK YOU ... here endeth my essay.
