The wooden fence - wooden posts and wooden lattice - will be erected by the members: Holes have to be dug, uprights mortared in position, panels positioned and nailed in place. Then the various wildlife boxes have to be fitted, before we can do the planting.
Why they need our serviceThe allotment needed a new fence along one edge, so we decided to make it very wildlife-friendly. The main structure will be an open wooden lattice, up which will be grown a wide variety of bee / butterfly / bird friendly plants. The supporting posts will be fitted with boxes to encourage birds and bees to nest. This will result in an attractive border that can give homes to some of our precious creatures.
Plan and expected resultsWe expect to make a difference in our community by introducing the idea of growing your own fruit/vegetables. We also include making a better environment for endangered bees, insects and butterflies. This will be a self sustaining site open to all and providing a good teaching/working environment for people to enjoy the outdoors whilst learning all about self-sufficiency.
