We will meet on site (Stratford Road, Ash Vale, GU12 5PT) at 10.30am on Sunday 2nd February 2014. No special skills are needed with all tools & training provided. Just wear outdoor clothing, boots or wellies & bring waterproofs just in case. Children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult. You are also welcome to attend to learn more about the site or provide moral support.
Why they need our serviceOur plans for every task day are governed by our 10 year site management plan which runs up to 2020. By working once a month on a mixture of routine work (e.g. scrub clearance; grass cutting; hedge trimming) and mini-projects (e.g. replacing a section of fencing; installing a bench) we can keep Snaky Lane looking great. Our work for February will be to trim some of the hedges and carry out infill planting. This will ensure our hedges are ready for the year before bird nesting starts.
Plan and expected resultsOur objectives are to: keep control of the hedges on site. The holly hedge at the Stratford Road / Meadow Close junction was cut back by contractors in February 2012 but has already put on significant growth. We need to trim now to avoid the hedge getting out of control once again. The outcome will be hedges that are ready for the year ahead and will not need to be touched during the bird nesting season.
