Maintenance of bikes is an on-going cost for the fleet. This includes brake pads, tyres, oil, service kits and of course, fuel. In addition, to promote our professional image and ensure rider visibility to other road users at night, we need to carry out a round of re-livery of our dedicated bikes.
Why they need our serviceAt NO cost to the local NHS Trusts, we provide a rapid and reliable means of transporting Emergency blood, blood products, X-rays, patient notes, human infant milk and laboratory samples to hospitals at night. When the hospital calls us, we will provide a standard, all-in-one delivery service between the hours of 7pm and 6am, 365 days per year and provide 24 hour coverage on national holidays.
Plan and expected resultsSERV works in partnership with the NHS to provide an essential emergency service and thereby function to act in a lead role in preventing harm to the public. Our, on-call emergency deliveries of blood, blood products, X-rays, patient notes, human infant milk or laboratory samples are time critical activities for the patients on the receiving end of these deliveries; there is a considerable risk to life and limb if response times are not kept as short as possible.
