On the 5th December I'll be raising money for the fantastic Norwich foodbank and FISH programme to help provide support over Christmas.
FISH (Food (and fun) In School Holidays) is a service run by Norwich foodbank to provide hot meals and fun activities for children during school holidays, who are eligible for free school meals during term time.
Norwich Foodbank works with different frontline professionals, like doctors, health visitors, social workers, and Citizens Advice, these professionals will be able to refer those in need to a food bank and provide a food bank voucher if they think they need emergency food. Alongside the Trussell Trust nutritionally balanced 3-day food parcels, they also deliver essential toiletries and pet food as requested / required and fresh items as stocks allow.
Norwich foodbank has seen a huge increase in the number of people needing support - up 40% between April - September 2020 compared to 2019 - and expect the need to continue as winter is usually the foodbank's busiest time.
The mounting financial pressure on families to provide a basic, nutritional dinner is becoming greater due to COVID-19. Now more than ever foodbanks are providing essential food packages and programmes so no one is left going hungry.
These are strange and uncertain times so if there is anything you can give, no matter how small it will make a huge difference to an unfortunately growing number of people.
