In 2011, we began piloting a Work Club from our premises in Forth, giving people free access to our internet connection for job searching - and help where required to use computers. We would like to develop the range of help we can offer, including IT Training and employability skills workshops, as well as deliver our Work Club to neighbouring rural communities such as Carnwath, Carstairs and Tarbrax.
Why they need our serviceOur rural area suffers from high unemployment and limited employment opportunities. In addition, a significant number of people are employed in low-paid or part-time jobs. With 75% of vacancies now on-line, access to and ability to use computers and the internet is essential. This is in addition to other support required - writing a CV, filling-out online applications, tackling interviews, etc. - to help people compete in today's jobs market.
Plan and expected resultsDelivering 3 workclubs across the area, targeting 90 local people. Delivering a rolling programme of Computer Courses (including certificated)to develop and evidence IT skills to potential employers
