Friends of DHA organise activities and attend community events in order to promote the work of DHA, raise funds to support the work with vulnerable families that DHA is valued for and provide information and signposting within the community. We welcome new volunteers to help us. We are not asking for specific skills because there is an opportunity for members to develop a role within the group.
Why they need our serviceThe staff work all week and we can't ask them to work unpaid at weekends. We have arranged a table top sale for Wednesday 30th October 2013 at Phoenix Street Office and intend to organise many more events. We have been given a FREE stall at the Jaguar Fairs, 3 times a year, and need volunteers to take shifts to man the stall for us at weekends, selling new & donated books. Without this help, we can't take advantage of our free stand at the fairs to fund raise towards our work.
Plan and expected resultsOur members commit to as much or little time as they feel comfortable with. Just 2 hours, 3 times a year would give us a rota of people to man the stall at a Jaguar Fair. Any commitment by a volunteer helps us to raise funds to support people with no access to Legal Aid. By using our Solicitors to act for them free of charge low income families and individuals are supported to remain in their properties, negotiate or re-negotiate debt payments and learn skills to manage their finances.
