Help us to support more people to engage with world-class art in Halifax, Yorkshire.

Here at Artworks we're pleased to host a range of artists in our gorgeous exhibition space, The Everybody Gallery. This winter we'll be working with Fiona Pickles for her first solo exhibition: From the Folde: Botanical Alchemy by Fiona Pickles.

Why do we need your help?
The Everybody Gallery showcases the work of a diverse range of artists. We're at the start of our mission to develop an inspiring and enjoyable programme of exhibitions that are representative of and engage the varied communities we work with.

We believe that art is for everyone, and should be accessible to all through an open programme of varied and high quality exhibitions and events.

Housed in a grade II listed former textile mill, The Everybody Gallery is part of Everybody Arts: a non profit organisation with thriving learning, wellbeing and studio programmes. This allows us to work within a local community of artists and art lovers as well as providing a platform for national and international artists.

Sadly we don't receive funding to cover the organisation's core costs, or the substantial expenses incurred in staging an exhibition. Crowd funding is one way we are exploring alternative funding models in the arts. With your help, even if it's just a few pounds, we can ensure our beautiful gallery space can showcase ambitious and high quality exhibitions that are engaging and accessible exhibitions for all to enjoy.

After joining us to test her ideas and artworks during a residency in our space, we're thrilled to now be supporting Fiona in her first solo exhibition. All donations received will fund the exhibition costs.

About the Exhibition
Folde - Old and Middle English term for earth, land, ground, soil, clay
Alchemy - a process of transforming the ordinary into something extraordinary

Join us to take notice of nature in the depth of winter, as Fiona Pickles transforms the unwanted, unloved and unexpected into something beautiful.

Working sustainability, the exhibition is focused on looking at the experiences and effect of natural light on botanical art, using only natural materials sourced from Britain and locally where possible.

Ranging from handmade paper to large botanical installations, each object has been handcrafted to reveal its grounded identity as an imperfect and often unconventionally beautiful part of nature that has been transformed into new shapes and forms. Irregular and highly impractical, the transformation process reveals the magic of creating with nature.
